Member STEVE GAEDE

Steve Gaede was born in St. Charles, IL and raised in St. Louis MO. At the age of eight, Steve began his musical odyssey when he started playing guitar. From 1988 – 1990, he studied guitar at National Guitar Summer Workshop in Connecticut. From 1990 – 1996, Steve played in a number of bands around the local St. Louis scene, primarily in the rock genre. In 1995, he began teaching himself to play the drums. Having a natural inclination toward rhythm from playing guitar and having lots of talented musician friends, he was able to grasp the basics very quickly. In March, 1996, Steve decided to leave St. Louis and moved to the Windy City.

Upon arrival in Chicago, Steve discovered guitar players were a dime a dozen locally. Heading in a new direction, Steve decided to focus more on drumming and began receiving many offers for work as a drummer.

Steve has been a part of Elastic Revolution Productions from its inception and continues to be involved with the daily workings of 3030 and the Elastic Arts Foundation. Currently, Steve’s musical projects are Slumber Sonics, a sleepy, droned out, lullaby rock band and Illaziam, a four-piece full on, concrete smashing, heavy metal band. Steve plays drums in both of these projects. There is also a third group, Wiretap Wednesday, that plays scored and improvised music along to film, to incorporate music and visuals. Steve plays guitar and drums and also enjoys the opportunity to shoot and direct short films in this project.
