Their innovative synthesis of electronic and acoustic music sounds waxes of studio manipulation, but everything the duo creates is done live. A laptop computer samples and processes the sound of Shelton's horn playing and Crawford's synthesizer and melodica so that the duo can essentially improvise collectively with themselves on other instruments, creating a diverse palette of colors and textures. Minuend Ensemble Removing or subtraction is a creative act in itself. What one takes away or doesnt do should be as (if not more) important than what they are adding. featuring: kevin davis (cello), aram shelton (reeds), jason roebke (bass), frank rosaly (percussion/ electronics), greg hamilton (piano), brian labycz (electronics) Eric Leonardson/Carol Genetti duo eric and carol have been performing together for several years; eric's home-built springboard percussion and carol genettis vocal techniques combine and play off each other to develop a unique language of experimental sound. This screening presents short video works created in response to current and historical socio-political events. Curated by Carrie Ruckel and Karin Patzke. The videos address issues of leadership, political policies, labor and patriotism, among others. Showcased are local, national and international filmmakers including Hope Tucker, Dara Greenwald, Chris Royalty and others. The screening runs appoximately one hour. This is the first part of a two-part collaboration. The second part is scheduled for October. |
